RITUAL COVERING 1996
MEDIA: canvas, ilala palm, acrylic, polypropylene, polyethylene, bone, wood
DIMENSIONS: 182cms x 122cms x 20cms

A tribal ritual garment, seen as a protective covering, conveying the vibrancy and energy of the Zulu people in KwaZulu Natal who wear incredible traditional outfits to commemorate rites of passage. I see the skulls adding a sense of mystery and the presence of the ancestors.
